Our Curriculum
Geography
At Oldfield, nestled in the heart of a beautiful rural community, our Geography curriculum is designed to help children make sense of the world—locally, nationally, and globally.
From the early stages in EYFS through to the end of KS2, we aim to spark children’s natural curiosity about the world around them. Through exciting, hands-on experiences and engaging lessons, pupils explore how people, places, and environments are connected—and how they change over time.
Our local area plays a central role in our Geography learning. Living in the Worth Valley, children have direct access to rich landscapes and real-world geographical features right on our doorstep. Whether it’s exploring nearby rivers and hills, learning about rural land use, or visiting local settlements, our pupils develop a strong sense of place and identity.
As they progress, children go on to compare our rural setting with urban areas, explore UK and global geography, and consider how communities interact with the environment across the world.
Geography at Oldfield is closely linked to outdoor learning and educational visits, helping to build resilience, independence, and a lifelong appreciation for the world we live in.
