Our Curriculum
Music
At Oldfield, we believe music should be a joyful and enriching part of every child’s education. Through a broad range of musical experiences, pupils develop their confidence, creativity, and understanding of musical elements such as rhythm, pitch, and structure.
Music is taught both as a discrete subject and woven into other areas of the curriculum, supporting learning in subjects like maths, languages, and PE. Weekly singing assemblies, class lessons, and whole-school performances give children regular opportunities to perform and enjoy music together.
Children explore music from different cultures and historical periods, building listening and appreciation skills. Extracurricular opportunities, such as choir and peripatetic music lessons, further enhance their musical journey.
Music at Oldfield supports wellbeing, concentration, and collaboration, and plays a central role in our school community. We aim to foster a life-long love of music in all pupils and ensure it remains a valued and vibrant part of school life.
